PARKING/UNLOADING INSTRUCTIONS
CONTEST FEE/PROGRAMS
There will be a $3.00 suggested donation for all guests to the contest as recommended by the IHSSA. Programs will be $1.00. As always, performing students and coaches will be admitted at no charge. We would advise you to make copies of your school’s schedule for your students. Please be sure to tell your team's supporters your SCHOOL CODE so they can find your performances.
SCHOOL MAP
The performance centers will be clearly marked and maps of the school will be available on our website and in the program. We will be utilizing rooms in the entire school - it is a very large school with an unusual layout. We highly recommend that you print a copy of the school map for each of your students and coaches. We will have a large amount of signage, as well as volunteers helping with directions. However, there is a learning curve to figuring out how to get around the building. We recommend you have your students find their performance centers when they arrive at the school to ensure they know where to go.
VIDEO/PHOTOGRAPHY
Please remind spectators that photography and videotaping during any performance are strictly prohibited unless they have permission from the state office. If any individuals from your school receive permission from the state office, be sure to show our room chair the written permission before the performance begins.
TEAM HEADQUARTERS
The high school gymnasium will serve as a home base for all students during the day. Please remind students not to bring items that will cause headaches or disrupt the contest. These include basketballs, footballs, and loud music.
IMPORTANT NOTE: AFTER OUR RECENT RENOVATION, THERE ARE NOW MULTIPLE EXITS WITH DOUBLE DOORS FROM THE NORA GYM. YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO MOVE OVER-SIZED ITEMS THROUGH THE DOUBLE DOORS NEAR THE COMMONS AREA. THIS WILL BE THE MOST DIRECT PATH TO THE PERFORMANCE CENTERS.
COMMENTS SHEETS
Comments sheets will NOT be provided to the judges by the host school. Be sure to print three (3) ballots for State Contest - each center will have three judges.
RATINGS
Ratings will be posted online, in the gymnasium, and in the cafeteria.
CONTEST SCHEDULE
Remember that performance times are approximate. Please remind your students to let their parents and friends know about this information. We don’t want anyone missing a performance that they want to see. Please make sure that parents are aware of your school code. This will save A LOT of headaches.
Encourage your performers (and their audience) to arrive EARLY. It would be very easy to get lost in our building - so students and guests will want to make sure they know where to go. Again, maps and signage will help, but there is travel time between different performance centers. Early is always better than late!
FOOD
Dubuque Senior will be offering concessions all day in our commons area. Please help us defray the cost of hosting contest by having your students and audience members support our school. A local business will be selling coffee throughout the contest day in the Commons outside the Nora Gym, as well. Please help support our local businesses by letting your students and parents know about these great drinks. Check out the full menu.
HALLWAYS/NOISE
PLEASE HELP us in patrolling the hallways for noise. We want a contest environment that is conducive to performing. It all boils down to a matter of respect. We feel that we ALL can do a better job while walking by or standing outside of centers. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
We will have a large number of warm-up rooms to help alleviate noise in the gym and in the hallways. Please encourage your students to take advantage of these warm-up spaces to cut down on the noise/people in the hallways.
